Accusationary Politics of Digvijay Singh

by Puja Shukla on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 8:35am

Anna has rightly placed himself as anti establishment voice, the rise of his movement and massive support across the length and breadth of the country has shown that parliamentary process needed to be more transparent and people inclusive. The so called lawmakers have mostly left lawmaking into select few as per their party line, but what about peoples aspiration? If someone speaks about their aspirations he has to bring character certificate, clear all his dues, face privilege motions and so on... The parliamentary democracy cant be dictatorial neither can doubt on peoples agenda. What Digvijay is doing is taking backseat on issues and pricking on non issues. Let me read out one important law IMDT Act 1983 passed by parliament for Assam : Under the Act, the burden of proving the citizenship or otherwise rested on the accuser and the police, not the accused; the accuser must reside within a 3 km radius of the accused.. The Parliament had consensually recognised the rights of accused and contained frivolous complaints, Digvijay is accusing everyone personally and slipping without any proofs, the onus is transferred to accused to prove themselves clean.
